Running Wild is a 5 piece covers band made up of members of Newport and District Running Club. The band got together in 2007 to play at the running club's Christmas celebrations cleverly re-writing lyrics of classics such as Pulp's 'Common People' and The Proclaimers '500 Miles' to humorously portray the trials, tribulations and foibles of runners and running.
Following on from this success, the band has added to its repertoire which now includes a wide range of musical styles sure to get audiences singing along and dancing. Material comes from The Coral to The Killers, and from Snow Patrol to The Strokes. For a complete list of songs covered, click here.
The band has played at various clubs and pubs in and around Newport as well as private birthday celebrations. Performances are backed up by a high quality sound system and light show. A disco is also available.
Running Wild is fronted by Gary Postins on vocal; Graham Kenyon on lead guitar and vocal, John Brown on rhythm guitar and vocal, Keith Newton on bass; and Glenn MacDonald-Jones on rhythm guitar and vocal. Charles MacDonald-Jones also features at some of the group's gigs on keyboards and vocals.
The band is available for your next Running Club social – maybe your Christmas or end of year celebrations. Charges are dependant on location but are around £80 per gig.
