John and Olly Stokes, Sandra Pattinson and Paula Newton went to the Wyre Forest in Bewdley to take part in an eight mile trail race recently.
There had been a heavy snowfall that morning, which made the surroundings look amazing and rather picturesque but very cold for the field of almost 300 racers.
As the race started, Olly went off at a good pace as the course wound downhill for the first couple of miles before turning to mud for the next few miles which slowed everyone down a bit.
As the race neared the close the last couple of miles were uphill to the finish and really tested the stamina of each athlete as they pushed on towards the finish line.
Olly Stokes was first home for the Newport club in 1h 13m 19s to be 126th overall with Pauline Newton not too far behind in 1hr 15m 56s to claim 157th place.
Sandra Pattinson was using the event as part of her training for future events and recorded 1hr 20m 36s to be 192nd and John Stokes did well to beat his time for the same race last year to be 248th in 1hr 28m 59s.
