What a fantastic night for the club and for the sport of running – over 1000 runners of all shapes, sizes, ages and abilities, running as teams around a two mile course in the grounds of Shugborough.
Newport put out a total of thirteen teams on the night, and although several people ran more than once, this was a great turnout.
Different to many other events, running as a relay team over a short distance was a complete change from fell racing, marathons or ultra distance and was just as taxing in its own way as it was eyeballs out for the duration and run at panting pace.
The pub in Haughton seemed pleased of our custom afterwards and it was great to see so many of us enjoying the after run socialising.
Thanks must go to Jo Coombes who did all the organising, which couldn’t have been easy with some last minute alterations to teams.
