Pontesbury Potter
Last Saturday also saw the fourteenth running of the Pontesbury Potter. This very popular annual event is not a race with big prizes as all the proceeds went to charity, and the £4500 raised this year went to the Severn Hospice and The Pontesbury Muheza Link in Africa.
Conditions on the day were superb - although slightly chilly at the start, it soon warmed in the spring sunshine as the walkers and runners followed a set of instructions which guided them around a 13+ miles course which took them over fields, through woods and over hills before returning back to Pontesbury and a welcome cup of tea and bacon roll provided by the scouts.
Mark Deighton was entering for the thirteenth time and managed to cover the ground in the respectable time of just under 2hrs 40mins.
