Ironbridge Half Marathon

Last weekend was a busy one for the town’s running club with over a dozen of them taking on the challenge of the Ironbridge Half Marathon. A perfect morning took the athletes from Stirchley taking in the Silkin Way, Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale and Blists Hill Museum.

Robin Guy showed that his training is going well with a superb performance to be 12th in a field of around 700 in an excellent time of 1hr 22m 29s. Maurice Reid was also in good form to be 33rd in 1.27.18 and Phil Hill was unlucky not to break the ninety minute barrier, crossing the line in 1.30.25 to be 57th.

Paul Parkinson hadn’t raced for a while, but showed good speed to be 81st in 1.33.20, while Graham Rogers was 99th in 1.35.16.

David Rose kept up a steady pace to be 140th in 1.38.06 with David Brown coming in 175th in 1.41.27 and Judi Clayton had a good run to achieve a time of 1.43.43 and be 211th.

John Taylor had a steady run to be 261st in 1.47.33 with club stalwart Colin Thacker attempting this race for the first time in several years having a good run to be 322nd in 1.50.44.

Bernie Holbrook and Sandra Dainty pushed each other along to be 357th and 358th in the same time of 1.52.52 with Gary Bowness completing the distance in 2.30.05 to be 677th.
