Caradoc Classic Fell race
Last week, several members of the town’s running club made the trip to Church Stretton to take part in the Caradoc Classic fell race.
This race may only have been three and a half miles long, but it also involved an 880ft climb to the summit of the Caradoc before dropping quickly off the side of the hill and following the track back around the base and returning to Church Stretton.
Considering he had run a 60 mile race the previous weekend, Noel Hogan did well to be 26th overall in 28m 32s. Helen Skelton did well to be 38th and take the prize for third lady in 30m 09s while another 60 mile racer, John Taylor, had a good run to be 43rd in 30m 51s.
Mark Deighton pushed hard to get up and down in 32m 37s to gain 64th position with Pauline Newton also making a good effort to be 110th in 40m 51s.
Rachel Storey, Helen Hadebe and Sandra Dainty seemed to run as a team, coming in together in 42m 35s in 113th, 114th and 115th places respectively.
